Explore the beauty of Caldbeck

Welcome to Caldbeck Crafters
Priest's Mill was built by the local church rector on the River Cald Beck just below St. Kentigern's Church in 1702 as a stone-grinding cornmill. From 1933 it was mainly used as a sawmill and joiner’s workshop until 1965, when floods caused the mill dam to be destroyed. The award winning restoration of the mill was completed in 1986 and the only machinery left is the 14ft diameter waterwheel.
The mill now includes - Caldbeck Crafters, The Wool Clip
and Watermill Café.

The Howk
A walk through the beautiful limestone gorge of the Howk is a must.
Follow the river to the old Bobbin Mill, up the steps that overlook the waterfall to the bridge and pause to take in the view up the river.
Continue further up the river towards Whelpo Bridge or follow a track to the village green and the awaiting hungry ducks at the pond.
